Bill,

Who do you think will become the "face of the franchise" now that Mr. Snider is gone. Also could this be a reason why Holmgren was moved into the President role. To be that new face for the Flyers?

I very much think that Paul Holmgren was moved into the club presidency because of his innate understanding -- having seen it from every possible chair -- of what makes the Flyers the Flyers.

As long as Holmgren, Ron Hextall and Bob Clarke have roles in Flyers management, upholding the Flyers as shaped by Ed Snider will remain front and center. But there is no one person who can fill that void by himself.

Its a very big fear of mine that the ownership group at Comcast becomes one of those faceless, bottom line type ownership groups. Which would be the exact opposite of what Mr. Snider cultivated....even after Comcast bought their share.

It's kind of what I thought when it seemed to happen quickly.

Snider must have had some idea it would happen sooner then anticipated and got his guys in position to keep the franchise in his model.

I'm not a fan of the commissioner, for many reasons, but I have to give him props for that speech. It was touching, insightful and classy. Nice job!

But someone who owns a chunk of the Flyers is going to have to step up and become the corporate face of the franchise. They may never fill Ed Snider's void but someone will have to be that person. Any idea if a family member will step up or will it be from Comcast corporate.

I realize you probably have little real insight into this factually but it is something I think a lot of fans are thinking about. I'm not typically one of those people but since the day he passed it's something that's been on my mind.

I don't know. How many owners are really the face of their team? I think Holmgren, Hextall and Clarke all fill that role.

I mean the face of Toronto right now is pretty much Shanahan. Cam Neely is pretty much the main guy when talking about the Bruins. Yzerman in Tampa. Tallon in Florida. Bowman in Chicago.

I think Holmgren and Hextall will be the face of this team moving forward when people think about the Flyers.

Very happy and excited for the future with Holmgren and Hextall running the Flyers.

Still hospitalized. Unfortunately, he has multiple health issues that complicate things.

Any chance of getting Peter Luukko back into the fold or has that ship sailed?

I don't know.

I would use the Hamilton trade as a comparable. Flames gave up a 1st(15) and two 2nds.(45&52)

I think I would rather us use our first to try to get Nichushkin from Dallas

I understand the thinking but I think Trouba has top pair skills which is something hard to find. Add him to Provorov and you have a potential top all situations pair.
